LAFD Officers Train to Detect Radiation
A group of Los Angeles Fire Department captains recently began instruction in a program of radiological detection training.
A LAFD spokesman said the program was designed to train personnel in combating runaway radioactivity in both war and peace. However, he said, the LAFD is more directly and imminently concerned with fire fighting operations in institutions using radioactive atomic energy for peaceful purposes.
