When it arrived, under command of Chief F. W. McAdam, the barn was all involved, and as there was no apparatus, except hose, little could be done to stop it until it burned itself out. Five hundred feet of Paragon hose were laid, connecting with the creek, and the 20 men engaged were successful in keeping the fire from involving the other buildings, combating it for several hours. The barn, which was valued at $10,800, was a total loss, and the contents, which were grain and agricultural implements, valued at $5,000. suffered damage estimated at $4,000.
