Jr. Fire Chief Program
A fire safety education program for children, developed by the Quaker Oats Company in cooperation with the International Association of Fire Chiefs, began in mid-November. The program will be featured on 21 million boxes of Cap’n Crunch and Quisp cereals. The cut-out wallet-sized Junior Fire Chief I.D. card on the box bears the IAFC seal and the signature of Captain Crunch, and allows the children carrying it to visit fire stations across the country to learn more about fire prevention and safety.
Besides exploring their neighborhood firehouse, youngsters will be exposed to basic fire safety tips listed on the cereal boxes. As junior fire chiefs, they will be urged to promote fire safety in their own homes and communities.
