The total fire loss in the Southern States during January amounted to $5,663,000, as against $3,175,000 in the same month last year. Texas leads, with $901,000; then come, in the order named, Georgia ($438,000); Kentucky ($407, 000); Tennesse ($302,000); Arkansas ($257,000) ; Virginia ($247,000) ; South Carolina ($227,000) ; Florida ($205,000); Mississippi ($199,000); Alabama ($194,000); North Carolina ($192,000); Louisiana ($94,000).
