IT HAS COME TO STAY.

IT HAS COME TO STAY.

THE cut given is from a photograph taken in Salem, N C., Chief Meinung testing the Eastman new nozzle system with a steam fire engine under the heaviest pressures possible. The Nozzle self-balances in any direction. Chief Meinung says:—"The Eastman nozzles, Hopkins patent, take all twist and thrash from the stream, not only greatly improving the stream in distance and delivering all the water to the extreme end of the jet, but the advantages to the pipemen in directing a nozzle are the greatest improvement on earth.”

One of the most interesting exhibits for firemen to examine at the Augusta convention will be the Eastman new nozzle system for producing superior streams and their handling. In fact the streams and their handling are the all important essential for the success of any department. When this newsy Ktcm was first adopted by this city some two years ago as well as about the same time by the Brooklyn, Hartford, Buffalo, and Detroit departments, and others we might mention, it was then thought by some that this might meet the same fate of many other fire-tools that had l« cn brought out,to be soon forgotten ami laid on’one side; but such has not proved the case in this instance. This m w system has steadily grown in favor until it has become the standard and not only used for every fire stream at the present time in this city and hundreds of others, but it has been adopted by hundreds of the best private corporations having fire protection.
