Indiana Firemen Flect Frank Miller
Frank H. Miller, chief of fire department at Terre Haute, Ind., was elected president at the eleventh annual convention of the Indiana Firemen’s Association held at Terre Haute. The twenty-third annual convention of the Northern Indiana Industrial and Volunteer Firemen’s Association was held at the same time. The convention was the largest gathering of firemen ever held in the state.
Chief Miller and his committee provided plenty of entertainment for the visiting firemen.
There were various contests from pulling the old hose cart up to demonstrations of handling modern equipment.
Carl Steup of Fort Wayne has been named chairman of the Fire Prevention committee to start a state-wide fire prevention week.
The new officers of the Indiana Firemen’s Association are Frank H. Miller, Terre Haute, president; Raymond Coon, Gary, first vice-president: Henry Scholl, Michigan City, second vicepresident ; Clem Smith, Terre Haute, secretary; Harry H. Fulmer, Indianapolis, treasurer, and a board of directors consisting of William Steinmetz, F.vansville, Clarence Smith, Marion, James Myron, Hammond, William Griffis. Indianapolis, Albert Winter, Madison and Michael Hines, Terre Haute.
The convention next year will be held in Gary. The date will be decided upon some time in January.
The new president was secretary of the assocition for eleven years. He has been honored by the association for his long service record.
