Important Fires During the Week Ending August 10.
The Providence (R. I.) Association of Firemen for Mutual Assistance held a meeting recently to make several changes in the by-laws. One of the proposed changes was to give permanenent members of the department the privilege of voting by proxy. Another was to increase the assessments from fifty cents to $4 per year. Another was that notification of sickness must be given within forty-eight hours. The movement was unsuccessful, and no action was taken.
