HOME OF THE ROYAL FIRE COMPANY, YORK.
YORK, PA., is fortunate in being the home of the Royal fire company, which has done good service in its day, and will continue to BE as active and energetic as ever in the time to come. In order that its surroundings may correspond with its fame as a firefighting company, it will soon be housed in new and hundsome quarters, which will afford the members the amplest accommodation as well for social,as for professional purposes.
The principal front of the new West End fire house will face upon Carlton avenue, where it will extend for 112 feet. As will be seen from the accompanying cut, it will be an imposing structure in the French renaissance style, flanked by a lofty bell and hose tower. The main building will house the apparatus on the ground floor, with the stables in the rear. The recreation room, library, and dormitories will be upstairs, while the lower rooms in the wing will be devoted to office purposes.
