The Bucks County, Pa., Volunteer Firemen’s Association is one of the few of the many volunteer and paid firemen's organizations that is doing something practical to decrease the fire waste, instead of existing for mere pleasure. With the North Carolina State Firemen's Association, it is probably the only firemen's association of its kind that goes into towns, villages and hamlets that are without fire protection and endeavors to have them procure apparatus suitable to their requirements, and finds them apparatus both new and secondhand, according to their ability to pay for it. The association has in this manner brought about the organization and equipment of several hre departments and has a number now in process of organization. The association also arranges for public meetings in different places to discuss fire protection and equipment. It is not agent for fire appliances or fire extinguishers, but is working for the interest of residents. There are 26 companies in the association. The association is going to give a picture show and lecture on hre prevention in different towns, and is having a book published on fire prevention.
