A Warner Robins (GA) man who drove into a firefighter responding to a call on Interstate 75 was sentenced to 12 months’ probation today, reports 13wmaz.com.
Nayef Al Shroof pleaded guilty in Bibb County Superior Court to violating the state’s move-over law.
Two other charges against him, causing serious injury and reckless driving, were dropped as part of the plea agreement.
That’s according to Assistant District Attorney John Regan.
作为的一部分the plea, Al Shroof was also ordered to complete a defensive driving course and pay a $500 fine.
Last July, Al-Shroof was charged with hitting firefighter Sgt. Eric John, who was responding to an accident on the interstate in south Bibb County.
John was in critical condition for weeks after the accident. He is still undergoing rehabilitation, said Regan.
He said the plea deal was reached after meetings with John’s family, who spoke in court Monday in support of the agreement.
