FIRE IN A MODERN HOTEL
The conclusion reached in the report of the Bureau of Surveyors of the New York Board of Fire Underwriters on the fire in Hotel Commodore of New York City, one of the largest and most modern hotels in the world, is instructive and shows how slips may occur in plans for efficiency.
There was not a fault in the hotel’s fireproof construction nor its plans or its equipment for protection. The total area covered by the hotel is 67,200 square feet. The building is 26 stories in height and none of the twenty floors of guests’ rooms were damaged or endangered.
