Fire Department at Milford, Conn., Augmented by New Apparatus

Milford. Conn., recently awarded a contract for a new combination Maxim city service truck and pumper at $10,000. The new apparatus will be delivered about June 1 and will be equipped with a 400-gallon capacity pump, a 40-gallon chemical tank, a total of 291 feet of ladders and minor equipment. Carrying capacity for 500 feet 2 1/2-inch hose is provided. The longer ladders are of 50, 40 and 35 feet dimensions and are of the extension type.

With this addition the Milford fire department will have ten pieces of apparatus. The personnel of the department, which is considered one of the most modern of the departments in the smaller cities in Connecticut, consists of Chief Lewis F. Stowe, nine paid men and a volunteer fire-fighting organization of about 200.
