This is the second article in a series on Class B, flammable liquid firefighting foams. The first article (Fire Engineering, January 1993) intro- duced the "family of firefighting foams"—the different types of foams, their characteristics, and their recommended uses. This article focuses on foams used to control flammable and combustible liquid fires.the Coast Guard Reserve and a firefighting instructor at the U. S. Navy Firefighting School, Treasure island. Rescue, and Incident Management Training Program” for the state of California and helped rewrite IFSTA 206,Aircraft Fire Protection and Rescue, and NFPA 1405, Recommended Procedures for Land Based Firefighters that Respond to Vessel Fires.
