Federal grants have been awarded to six Illinois fire departments to assist with the purchasing of new equipment and vehicles for additional training, according toa report from the Chicago Tribune.
Thereportindicates that the Federal Emergency Management Agency will release approximately $757,000 to the Adams County Ambulance and EMS and fire departments in Charleston, Effingham, LeRoy, Northbrook and Rockford.
In 2010, the state of Illinois received 132 awards totaling over $14.8 million.
