Free water is furnished to the borough for all fire hydrants, flush tanks, city hall, borough markets, flushing sewer inlets, street flushing on brick pavements, public drinking fountains, fire engine houses, Elmwood Park, and all street work. There are 430 meters in use, ranging in size from 1/2-inch to 6 inches. All fire services have Detector meters. The population of Norristown is 32,500, and the daily water consumption is 2,500,000 gallons, a per capita consumption of 77 gallons. The water pressure is 35 to 90 pounds.
