Elyria Links Up New Water Line.
The water works of Elyria, Ohio, on Sunday, April 19, according to Service Director James A. Hewitt, installed a two ton joint, including the valve, on the main pipe line in order to connect up a new 20 inch main which will safeguard the city water supply by providing an auxiliary line. It was necessary to shut down the water supply for eight hours in order to perform this work. It took about four hours to actually lay the joint, about two hours to drain the main and about two hours more to refill it and resume normal pressure in all the city lines.
