Discipline at Indianapolis
Mayor Bell, of Indianapolis, Ind., deplores the lack of discipline which he says prevails in the fire stations of that city. A member of the department was recently suspended for sixty days for assault and battery on a citizen who was a visitor to a station. Mayor Bell said the testimony in the trial brought out an apparent lack of discipline in the station. He said he had heard of lack of discipline in other stations. He suggested that the chief cause a rule to be posted to the effect that vulgar and profane language in the station is prohibited; that citizens who start controversies should be excluded from station, fie also said that the next time a fireman was brought to trial on similar charges be would be discharged.
