The fire department is asking 11 more men this year, the new total being 728, compared with the present number, 717 employes. The salary budget is much increased, however, amounting to $802,582.60. compared with $744,896.40 in 1910. Running expenses for the ensuing year are put in at $210,263.43, compared with $156,328.46 allowed for this year. The largest increases are in apparatus repairs, building repairs and water supply repairs, the latter item jumping from $28,000 to $48,491.50.
