曾任英国朱利叶斯·皮尔斯的死亡
Julius Pearse, former chief of the Denver, Colo., fire department, who did much to bring it up to its high degree of efficiency, and a well known member of the International Association of Fire Engineers, died at his home in Denver on April 27. He was seventy years of age and had been ill about nine weeks, having been taken ill while on a trip to New York as a result of an injury to a foot received in 1914 while examining a fire truck. Chief Pearse was born in Germany in March, 1847, and when entering his teens came to this country and lived in Chicago until about 1870 when he removed to Denver. The first volunteer fire department of that city was organized in the early 70s by a number of business and professional men, of whom Julius Pearse was one. He was a charter member of the Woodie Fisher Hose Company, of which he was elected foreman in 1873. In 1875 he was made chief of the Volunteer fire department. Later he became chief of the paid department. In September, 1897, he resigned. He then engaged in the business of selling fire department supplies, being president of the Julius Pearse Fire Department Supply Company. Chief Pearse assisted in the organization of the Colorado State Fire Association and was its first president. He was a member of the G. A. R., having enlisted at the beginning of the Civil War with an Illinois Infantry Company. Ex-Chief Pearse is survived by wife, six daughters and two sons.
