Contract Awarded for Collection of Fire Data
The National Fire Prevention and Control Administration has awarded a $227,000 contract to the National Fire Protection Association for the development of data on fire occurrences as the first step in establishing a fire data collection and analysis system. The contract calls for a minimum of six months’ collection of fire incident data, to be delivered in a uniform machine-readable format.
Contract requirements also include the development of forms and materials necessary for fire incident data collection, development of a sampling plan for obtaining data statistically representative of the national fire experience, and assistance to state and local fire jurisdictions in developing fire incident data collection systems, as specified by the sampling plan.
