Connecticut’s Smallest Fireman

The village of Noank, Conn., claims to have the smallest fireman in that state. He is Charles Emmet Ellis, four feet, one inch tall, and eighteen years old. For many years he was the company's mascot, attending all musters, parades and taking part in all the festivities of the organization. But more recently he has been made a full-fledged fireman, wearing a regulation uniform and attending all fires.
