COMPRESSED AIR FOR SUPPLYING WATER
Paper read at the convention of the Central States Water Works association, Cincinnati, Ohio, September, 1899.
THE system of supplying water from deep wells by an air-lift or air-compressor is one not in general use in this country, and has to some extent been an experiment; but the results have justified the opinion that for moderately flowing wells, or wells having a head not more than twentyfive or thirty feet below the surface, being too low to draw from by ordinary suction pumps, the application of compressed air at some distance below the top has largely increased the supply of water.
