Combination Steam and Gas Engine
Capt. Hugh T. Dunn, of the New York Fire Department, has developed a new engine cycle which is a combination of the diesel cycle of high compression fuel, and steam power.
The drawing is part of the plans submitted for a patent. When liquid fuel is injected into a cylinder and then compressed to a high point as in the diesel cycle, a large amount of heat is produced. Capt. Dunn has developed a way of injecting water into the cylinder so that this heat will generate steam, and the steam used to provide additional power.
