Christening the New House.
The formal opening of the Fire Insurance Patrol's new quarters, occurred on Saturday, February 16, 1878, at one o'clock. A large attendance of the leading merchants cf the city, and a very general attendance of the in surance men, manifested the interest taken in he Patrol. A sumptuous collation, by Kinsey, the caterer, was spread on the third floor, he gift of the local insurance agents, to which 11 did ample justice.
After lunch. Judge Lewis 11. Davis, Presi ent of the Local Board of Underwriters. ailed the assemblage to order, and said that he had been requested to preside, and he de sired to extend to all a most hearty welcome first, because it was the underwriters' home, and second, because the merchants had kindly contributed to the furnishing of the new house, and the insurance men anyway regarded them as kind of first cousins," consequently all should feel at home.
