Chief Osborne Drowned
Chief J. Roy Osborne, Middleton, Mass., Fire Department, was killed on December 3, when an airplane that he was piloting crashed through the ice while attempting a landing on Middleton Pond. The airplane sank and the Chief drowmed in the icy water, before rescue parties could reach him, by breaking their way through the ice. He bad been a licensed airplane pilot for six months. Besides being Chief, he was also town Road Commissioner.
