Canteen Service at Fires Needs Special Vehicle
As we’ve said before, some buff club canteen services are well-established, but new ones continue to start up around the country. Sometimes the club itself is new and inexperienced. Any fire department offered canteen service for the first time can best help buffs get, started by knowing what questions need to be answered.
The first one is: What kind of vehicle is needed? This depends mostly on tlhe kind of service to be rendered (beverages only vs. extended mass feeding; food prepared on the vehicle or brought from a base supply, etc.), as well as the financial backing available. Most fire buff canteens start on a small scale, often with private cars or station wagons until they get operations ironed out.
