California Adopts Compulsory Fire Education

The legislature of California recently passed a bill making Fire Prevention education in the public schools compulsory and the bill has been signed by Governor Stephens of that state. The bill calls for the study of Fire Prevention in all cities for a minimum of one hour each month beginning September 1. Other states which have passed similiar legislation this year are Rhode Island. West Virginia, Wisconsin and Ohio, and New Jersey last year. The organization largely responsible for this legislation is the National Association of Credit Men. This work has been strongly seconded by the International Association of Fire Engineers, the National Board of Fire Underwriters, the United States Bureau of Education, the Fire Marshals’ Association of North America, and many other societies.

The fire department of Flora, Ill., recently ordered a Reo motor chemical combination car. Delivery is expected about July 1.
