Buffalo’s New Superintendent.

Buffalo’s New Superintendent.

As was expected, Mr. James L. Rodgers has been promoted to be Superintendent of the Buffalo Fire Department to fill the vacancy caused by P. C. Doyle’s resignation. Mr. Rodgers is allowed by all who know him to be in every respect fit for the position—a model Fireman and a man of high character and capacity. Although still a young man, he has served in the Department since 1860. He was one of the chief organizers of Hook and Ladder Company No. 2 in 1864., and was Foreman of that organization seven or eight years. His sterling abilities obtained him the appointment of assistant under Superintendent Williams, in which capacity he worked faithfully and efficiently two years, and upon the re-appointment of Mr. Doyle last January, scarcely a question was raised as to the propriety of giving Mr. Rodgers the first place under that able Chief.
