With every added discovery in the field of natural science the unity of that knowledge is further demonstrated. The proceedings then of that long deservedly famous body, the British Association for the Advancement of Science, which has just held its seventy-ninth annual convention at Winnipeg, deserves the attention of all interests represented by this journal. In that this learned body has again returned to the American continent to hold its annual deliberations speaks well of the world-wide esteem in which Ameri can men of science and engineering ability are held. The representation from the united States was large and representative. A better day for the human race appears to have been the watchword of the meeting as opposed to the rather pessimistic attitude assumed by scientists some two decades ago. Sir W. K. White’s address on engineering was warmly received.
