Boyd Combination Car in Philadelphia
The city of Philadelphia has just placed in commission a very serviceable motor car which is well adapted for protecting the suburbs. The new machine is a motor-driven combination chemical engine and hose truck. It has a complete equipment of fire tools, including a 60-gallon chemical tank and capacity for 1,500 feet of 2½inch hose. It was constructed throughout at the shops of James Boyd and Brother, Inc., on a Boyd chassis, and is a 48.4 (A. L. A. M.) machine with 86 h.p. brake test. The truck was fully tested, accepted by the city and placed in commission in the house of Company, No. 12, Manayunk. The pictures shows Foreman John Rumney standing at rear wheel.
