波士顿Eighty-five Per Cent. Motorized
The Boston Fire Department, according to a report by Chief John O. Taber, is now eighty-five per cent, motorized, this having been accomplished by the addition of seven American-DaFrance motor triple combination pumpers, releasing thirty-three horses and leaving only six horse-drawn fire engines, and seven horse-drawn ladder trucks to be replaced by motor apparatus.
The West End receives two pieces. The company of Engine 4, Bulfinch street, having limited runs, secures a Christie front-drive steam fire engine, and Engine 6, Leverett street, receives a 750-gallon combination pumper. This means, according to Chief Taber, that the service in the thickly populated section is practically doubled.
