BMW Recalls 530 Minis in Britain

Munich – BMW AG is recalling around 530 of its Mini cars in Britain because of a fault that might cause a fire when the cars are filled with gasoline.

The company has received two reports of localized fires caused by a buildup of static electricity. BMW AG has made the appropriate changes to the Mini’s assembly and earths are being fitted onto new models. The vehicle went on sale in July in Britain. It is expected to go on sale in the United States in 2002.
