Baltimore Losses Down
Fire losses in the City of Baltimore, Md., were reduced by 35 per cent during the year 1957. Total damages are listed as $4,683,011 versus $7,274,820 in the preceding year.
The drop is said to be due to accelerated emphasis placed on fire prevention and fire fighting training within the department. There were 44 large-loss fires during the year compared with 64 in both 1956 and 1955.
