Members of the fire and emergency services regularly respond to traumatic events and face a variety of daily stressors that can have lasting effects on their mental and emotional well-being. Tragically, some first responders do not receive the help that they need to adequately deal with these issues and decide to take their own life.
The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is hosting a webinar at 2 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, September 25 focusing on the behavioral health issues impacting members of the fire and emergency services. Presenter Jeff Dill from the Firefighter Behavioral Health Alliance will outline several behavioral health threats and will identify warning signs and prevention measures. Additionally, the results of the NVFC’s recent behavioral health survey will be revealed and analyzed by representatives from HOPE Health Research Institute.
The webinar will provide a preview of information that will be available in the NVFC’s soon-to-be-released report focusing on suicide in the fire and emergency services.
