ARRANGING FOR THE NATIONAL CONVENTION.

辛辛那提公报(Cincinnati Gazette)在该城市举行的委员会会议上发表了以下报告,该委员会与全国消防工程师大会有关。

Last night at Fire Department headquarters was held the first committee meeting to consider pertinent questions regarding the Fire Chiefs’ Convention, which is to be held here, beginning Tuesday, September 12. and continuing through the following Friday. There were present at the meeting Chief Bunker, who acted as Chairman; E. C. Armstrong. Superintendent of the fire and police telephone service ; Chief Glore, of the Covington Department ; Mr. Ilenrv A. Hills, Secretary of the Association of Fire Engineers; and Assistants Hughes, Schildmeyer and Wisbey, This will be the tenth annual Convention held since the organization was effected, and every effort is being put forward, both in the direction of securing a full attendance and in enlarging the field to be covered by questions named for discussion, to surpass all former assemblies. Of course in all this preparation a certain measure of responsibility for the success of the meeting descends upon the officers and citizens here. The meeting last night was of an informal character, and had been called to discuss the arrangement of a programme or order of exercises more than anything else. On motion of Assistant Hughes, all present were appointed aCommitteeon Programme. Messrs. Hughes, Armstrong, Schildmeyer, Wisbey, Armstrong and the Chiel were appointed as a Finance Committee, to collect and receive funds to defray the expenses necessarily accruing. Chief Glore was instructed to carry a special invitation to the Mayors, Presidents of the City Councils, and the Chairman of the Council Committee on Fire Department in Covington and Newport, to act in conjnnetion with the Reception Committee, which will be named hereafter. Mr. Hills, who is brimful of the Convention, and greatly desirous that it may be a success, as from the present outlook it undoubtedly will, was called upon for a statement as to what progress he was making. In answer he said that he had been busy with preliminaries, and as yet could only report. He had issued a general call, of which fully 2000 copies had been scattered over the United States, Canadas and Europe. In addition, Chief Bunker and the Reception Committee had ordered mailed 2000 copies of an invitation circular in the name of the Reception Committee.
