Aplauskill Water Project
Chief Engineer Sherman of the New York Conservation Commission has filed a report on the probable cost of a proposed water supply from Alplauskill for Cohoes, Watervliet, Waterford and Green Island and in it stated that in his judgment this plan offers the best solution for a sufficient water supply for the combined district. The stream advocated by him Hows into the Mohawk at Rexford Flats, and near Charlton its formation is such as to provide admirable conditions for the erection of a dam and the forming of a storage reservoir, and the watershed he approximaates as being twenty-five miles in extent. This has a total flow of 6,974,500,000 gallons, measured during the dry season of 1913. A summary of his figures is as follows: Estimated cost, $1,830,000 j operating expenses. $137,742, or $25.16 per million gallons.
