The following replies are in answer to a previous question on regulations governing the storage of oily waste and rags:

F. A. Northcutt, Chief, Covington, Ky.: We have had a few fires caused by careless storage of oily waste and rags. We have a regulation that all dirty and oily rags must be kept in approved metal containers. The inspectors are very strict in regard to oily rags and waste and therefore this regulation has helped to reduce such fires.
