Anchorage Auditorium Burns
The Anchorage, Alaska High School Auditorium was destroyed by fire on the night of March 24, last, with loss of $200,000. Some 100 volunteer and regular firemen from all local and area fire departments prevented blaze from extending to the adjoining High School after a tough two-hour fight.
The cause of the fire, which broke out shortly before 8:00 P.M., was spontaneous ignition, according to Fire Chief George Burns, who said combustible materials were stored in the northeast wing near the stage where the fire originated.
