Among the Manufacturers.

—The California Fire Apparatus Works, W. T. Y. Schenck, proprietor, has earned a wide reputation for the superior quality and reliability of its manufacture and supplies for fire protection in mills, factories and public buildings. The celebrated brands known as the “Eureka,” “Paragon” and “Red Cross” hose have won the highest commendation. Schenck’s swing hose reel has been found particularly serviceable in large buildings. The Palace Hotel has now forty-eight in use, and besides being useful they form quite a handsome ornament on the walls. The fire commissioners have just passed a resolution to purchase 10,000 feet of their “Paragon” cotton fire hose.—San Francisco Post.

—In neatly fitted up quarters at 29 Church street, two doors from the Cortlandt street elevated station, will be found the firm of H. F. Wheeler & Co., as the business card of the firm reads: “Sole agents for Cornelius Callahan Company, manufacturers of cotton fire hose and fire department supplies.’ Major Wheeler, well known to fire department men everywhere, is at the head of the new concern, and Frank Wheeler, late secretary of the Fabric company, is second in command. Success has already come to the new house, and those who know Major Wheeler’s large following are not inclined to doubt that it has come to stay.
