According to a news report, two veteran Fire Department of New York (FDNY)fitnesstrainers were reassigned from the fire academy due to recent controversies over physical fitness standards in the department.
The New York Postreported that Lts. Michael Cacciola and Peter Critsimilios were removed from Randall’s Island on Monday and sent to the ceremonial unit.
The move comes after previous news of watered-down physical standards for FDNYfirefighters. Earlier this year,Rebecca Wax, failed the department’s Functional Skills Training testyet still became a firefighter, and thePostalso reported thatthe department has instituted changes to its entrance examthat, some say, further diminish physical standards for the job.
