A woman was injured in a house fire Wednesday afternoon inWilson Borough, police and the fire chief said at the scene.

It was reported about 1:50 p.m. at a twin home in the 400 block of Stanley Street, a block-long street perpendicular to Freemansburg Avenue just south of Butler Street.

Borough fire Chief Joe Sipel said he believed the woman who was injured was a resident in one of the homes, and said she was taken to an area hospital for treatment of burns. No one else was reported injured.

Both sides of the home were occupied at the time of the fire, and neither is inhabitable until repairs can be made, Sipel said. One side of the home sustained more fire damage than the other, which saw some smoke and water damage, while a nearby wood-frame garage also was severely damaged.

The fire was declared out as of about 3:40 p.m., Sipel said. An investigation was continuing into the cause and point of origin.

Assisting the borough fire department were firefighters and apparatus from Easton and Palmer, Bethlehem and Forks townships, along with borough police and Suburban EMS.

A resident toldlehighvalleylive.comthey had just arrived home when a car alarm sounded, drawing them outside, where the fire was visible. The neighbor started knocking on doors to alert everyone nearby to get outside to safety, and said that a woman had recently moved in to the side of the home that saw the most damage from the fire.

Crews were also battling a fire Wednesday, as strong winds moved through the Lehigh Valley region, at anapartment building in Lower Macungie Township.
