Feb. 24—Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries after jumping from a balcony to escape an apartment fire early Thursday morning in Sacramento’s South Land Park neighborhood, authorities said.

The victims, both adults, have life-threatening injuries after jumping from the second floor of an apartment unit in the 6000 block of South Land Park Drive, the Sacramento Fire Department said in a social media post around 4:45 a.m.

Fire Department spokesman Capt. Keith Wade said he did not have any additional information, and that the incident and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
