Apr. 27—A woman died Tuesday from her injuries after being trapped in a house fire that broke out last week.

Vanessa Tellez, 36, was identified as the woman who died in the hospital from her injuries, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

The incident happened Thursday night on the 4600 block of East Brown Avenue.

Fire crews arrived within five minutes of receiving reports of a residential fire with people possibly trapped inside, according to Fresno Fire Battalion Chief Bob Camp.

Fire crews searched for people inside the burning home and found Tellez. Firefighters managed to get her out of the house and conducted life-saving measures on her, Camp said. Camp added that the woman was able to breathe on her own but she did suffer severe burns.

Another person was located outside of the home as the fire occurred. No injuries were reported regarding that person.

According to Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, Tellez was homeless and the house was recently vacated.

As many as 30 firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire. The house suffered significant fire damage, Camp said, but an exact cost of damage was not immediately known.
