Three workers and one firefighter were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a fire broke out underneath the basement floor of a Jamaica Plain home, reports The Boston Globe (http://bit.ly/1tiCFqG)
At 9:23 a.m., Boston firefighters responded to 109 Carolina Ave. for a fire in the basement apartment of the 2 ½-story hous.
Workers in the basement were preparing to blow insulation into the walls when the fire broke out in the crawl space beneath them. Firefighters used saws to cut the floorboards and reach the fire.
Two of the workers were taken to the hospital for burn injuries and another to get checked out, said MacDonald. The injured firefighter was treated and transported for chest pains.
