An 18-year-old woman died in a fire early this morning in the South Austin area of Chicago, Illinois. Another person was taken to an area hospital forsmoke inhalation.
The Chicago Tribune(http://trib.in/13no3Yr) reported that fire officials said the fire broke out around 12:15 a.m. near the intersection of Waller Avenue and Iowa Street. The upper floor of the building was engulfed by the time firefighters arrived on scene. Theatticof the structure was fully involved, Deputy Fire Chief Don Hroma said.
Other occupants managed to escape the fire. Witnesses said one person jumped out a window. A man who sufferedsmoke inhalationwas taken to West Suburban Medical Center in fair-to-serious condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
