North Carolina Firefighter Injured in Restaurant Fire

加斯托尼亚firefighte (NC)rs battled a fire at a popular restaurant at one of the busiest intersections in the city, reports the Gaston Gazette.

Firefighters responded to a LongHorn Steakhouse and found heavy fire and smoke at the restaurant. The fire started in the rear of the restaurant in the kitchen, in the area of the service door where packages are delivered.

Gastonia Fire Department was assisted by Ranlo Fire Department, Crowders Mountain Fire and Rescue and New Hope Fire Department. It took firefighters 45 minutes to get the fire under control.

The steakhouse’s interior suffered a lot of smoke, heat and water damage. Firefighters managed to keep most of the flames contained to the rear of the building around the kitchen.

While battling the fire, extreme heat inside the restaurant forced crews outside. They were able to ventilate the building and resume fighting the fire from the inside.

One fireman with the Gastonia department was treated and released from Gaston Memorial Hospital for a minor injury to his lower leg.
