The Houston Fire Department responded to a 2-alarm fire at 601 Travis Street in downtown Houston on Tuesday, reports click2houston.com.
The fire started around 3:30 p.m in the parking garage adjacent to the Chase Bank tower. The fire was declared under control at 4:22 p.m. Officials said three vehicles suffered heavy damage on the third floor of a parking garage.
Building officials said the building was evacuated as a precaution. Tenants will not be able to return to their vehicles until the HFD gives the all-clear.
HFD’s arson bureau will be investigating the cause of the fire. Officials said no injuries have been reported.
KPRC 2 is told METRO suspended rail service because of the fire. Buses will be used to shuttle passengers.
