Myrtle Beach (SC) – The cause of a boat fire that forced four people into the water on Sunday remains under investigation, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
A good Samaritan and the Coast Guard rescued the four people after receiving a distress call at 11 a.m. Sunday for a boat fire off the coast of Murrells Inlet, said Petty Officer First Class Stephen Lehmann.
Two men and two women were rescued after the distress call was placed on VHF channel 16 stating the boat had caught fire, but the fire was out, Lehmann said. Minutes later a man radioed back and told officials the engine fire had relit.
