消防员减肥挑战开始在新的Jersey

More than 100 firemen will gather at the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties in Neptune, New Jersey, to kick-off the second annual Firemen Weight Loss Challenge between 27 Monmouth and Ocean County (NJ) firehouses. This eight week Weight Loss Challenge is sponsored by The Atlantic Club of Manasquan and Red Bank, New Jersey, as part of the Take it Off Weight Loss Program. The Weight Loss Challenge will kick off on Wednesday, February 10.

Firefighters will be served a preweigh-in meal, consisting of pasta, bread and salad, topped off with a chocolate dessert and then be “weighed in.” For the official weigh in, each individual and team will be weighed and beginning weights recorded..

The Take It Off Program will provide our firefighters weekly one-on-one coaching, simple recipes using grocery store foods, and Take It Off educational handouts to help them achieve their weight loss goals. In addition, the firefighters will receive an eight-week membership to The Atlantic Club. At the end of eight weeks, the total pounds lost by all firefighters will be compiled and The Atlantic Club will donate $1 per pound to The Food Bank. The fire department who loses the most weight will win $1,000 for their firehouse.

消防员减肥的挑战是在它的第二个year. At the conclusion of the 2009 Challenge, The Atlantic Club donated $1 to The Food Bank for every pound the 100 firefighters lost–a grand total of $2,189. The Atlantic Club also awarded the winning team, The Little Silver (NJ) Fire Department a $1,000 check. The Firemen Take it Off Weight Loss Challenge turned out to be a success on several levels,” said Atlantic Club owner and CEO Pat Laus. “In addition to raising the funds for a very worthy cause, many of the firefighters that participated improved their health and shed unwanted pounds by pursuing the healthy lifestyles they adopted during the eight weeks on our Take it Off Program.”

The Food Bank, a member of Feeding America, distributes sixmillion pounds of emergency food annually to 270 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other emergency feeding programs, which feed the needy throughout all of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
