Firefighters narrowly escaped serious injured just after midnight Monday morning March 24 after the roof of a front porch collapsed at a house fire in the village of Hempstead, New York, on Long Island.
The roofcollapsedin one piece as firefighters were preparing to search for occupants and extinguish heavy flames on arrival at the unoccupied house.

Fortunately no units were in the immediate area of the collapse. No injuries were reported.
